Primary Purpose of Position
The research associate will be responsible for developing data reports and presentations required for the NSF-funded eFellows program at JSNN.
These reports require data collection and data analysis and are required to publish the data research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at scientific conferences and meetings.
The Research Associate will also be responsible for disseminating and participating in educational and outreach activities for K-16 and mentoring undergraduate research scholars.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) is an academic collaboration between North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) and the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNC Greensboro). Founded in 2009 to serve as a catalyst for innovation, JSNN builds on the strengths of these affiliated universities to offer innovative, cross-disciplinary graduate programs in the emerging areas of nanoscience and nanoengineering. JSNN's faculty, research staff and students are equipped to further the mission of JSNN which is, "to use fundamental and applied knowledge in nanotechnology to produce solutions to society's most critical problems through interdisciplinary research, education, and entrepreneurship, and in doing so, will serve the region, nation, and world.
Minimum Requirements
* PhD in Nanoscience or Nanoengineering or a related discipline
* Experience in mentoring and training users in laboratory environments and on equipment usage
* Excellent communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Experience working in a science research facilities with knowledge of equipment usage
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
* 3 or more years of experience working with the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials and the usage of nanotechnology equipment
* Demonstrated experience in excellent customer service
* At least three years of training experience in the safe execution of research projects in a laboratory environment
* Experience in writing standard operating procedures
* Ability to work with researchers from broad backgrounds
